Description

This Ground Beef and Dumplings recipe is a hearty and comforting dish thatโ€™s perfect for a cozy weeknight meal! Tender ground beef, a rich and creamy sauce, and fluffy dumplings come together in one pot for a satisfying and flavorful dinner.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 cup diced yellow onion
  • 1 tablespoon chopped garlic
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 (10.5 oz) can condensed cheddar cheese soup
  • 1 (10.5 oz) can condensed cream of bacon soup
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cups half and half
  • 2 cups frozen mixed vegetables
  • 1 (12 oz) can refrigerated biscuit dough (10 biscuits)

Instructions

  1. Brown Beef and Onions: Heat olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and crumble well. Add diced onions and cook until beef is browned and onions are translucent.
  2. Add Flavor and Liquids: Stir in garlic and Italian seasoning. Add cheddar cheese soup, cream of bacon soup, chicken broth, and half and half. Stir until well combined.
  3. Simmer with Vegetables: Add frozen mixed vegetables and bring to a boil.
  4. Prepare Dumplings: While the mixture boils, cut each biscuit into 6 pieces.
  5. Cook Dumplings: Add biscuit pieces to the boiling mixture. Stir, cover, and reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer for 15 minutes.
  6. Rest and Serve: Remove the lid and stir. Remove from heat and let rest for a few minutes to thicken. Serve hot.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for the ground beef.
  • If you donโ€™t have cream of bacon soup, you can substitute cream of mushroom soup or cream of celery soup.
  • For a thicker sauce, you can add a cornstarch slurry (1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water) towards the end of the cooking time.
  • Serve with a side salad or your favorite vegetables for a complete meal.
