- 1 pizza dough (12–16 ounces, store-bought or homemade)
- 1/4 cup cornmeal (optional)
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour, for rolling dough
- 1/2 cup whole milk ricotta cheese
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cloves garlic, finely minced
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Prepare Dough: If using store-bought dough, let it sit at room temperature for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C). Sprinkle cornmeal (if using) on a rimmed baking sheet.
- Roll Dough: Lightly flour your work surface. Gently stretch or roll the pizza dough to a 12-inch circle. Transfer to the prepared baking sheet. Curl the edge slightly to form a thicker crust.
- Make Ricotta Mixture: In a small bowl, combine ricotta, Parmesan, garlic, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Oil and Garlic: Brush olive oil evenly over the pizza dough. Sprinkle minced garlic over the oil.
- Add Ricotta and Mozzarella: Dollop the ricotta mixture over the dough and spread evenly. Top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Bake: Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
- Serve: Garnish with fresh basil or parsley (optional). Cracked red pepper flakes can be added at the table.
Notes
- Cornmeal adds a nice texture to the crust.
- Fresh herbs can be used in place of dried herbs.
- Adjust baking time as needed based on your oven.
