Chicken Burgers:
- 1 pound lean ground chicken or turkey
- 1/2 cup prepared caramelized onions
- 5 ounces white cheddar, 1/4 inch dice
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1-2 teaspoons Calabrian chili paste (or sambal)
For serving:
- burger buns
- smashed avocados
- arugula
- mayo
Instructions
- PATTIES: Heat the grill to 475ºF. Combine ground chicken, caramelized onions, cheddar, salt, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, pepper, and chili paste in a bowl. Form into 4 patties. Refrigerate for 30 minutes. Grill for 4-6 minutes per side.
- GRILL: Oil grill grates, cook patties until 155ºF.
- SERVE: Toast buns, assemble burgers with mayo, lettuce, smashed avocados. Serve with desired sides.
Notes
- Caramelized onions: Melt butter and oil in a skillet. Sauté onions, add sugar and salt, cook for 35-45 minutes until golden and soft.
- Prep onions in advance for convenience.
