Description

This Teriyaki Salmon Recipe is an easy and delicious way to enjoy this healthy fish. The salmon is marinated in a homemade teriyaki sauce, then baked to perfection and brushed with a flavorful glaze.

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Teriyaki Salmon:

  • 2 1/2 lbs salmon filet, sliced into 2-inch wide slices

For the Teriyaki Sauce:

  • 3 tablespoons teriyaki sauce
  • 3 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 large or 3 medium garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 teaspoons freshly grated ginger or 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger

To Serve (Optional):

  • Sesame seeds, for garnish
  • Green onion, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prep: Grease a large rimmed baking sheet (cover with foil and then grease for easier clean-up). Preheat oven to 400˚F.
  2. Make Teriyaki Sauce: Combine sauce ingredients and stir until brown sugar is dissolved.
  3. Marinate Salmon: Place individual salmon slices in a mixing bowl. Pour the sauce over the salmon, cover with plastic wrap, and let marinate for 20 minutes (at room temperature or refrigerated).
  4. Bake Salmon: Transfer salmon to the prepared baking sheet (keep the marinade). Bake at 400°F for 12-16 minutes or until salmon is flaky and cooked through. Baking times may vary by the thickness of the salmon.
  5. Thicken Sauce: While salmon is baking, transfer the remaining marinade to a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Then reduce heat to a simmer and cook, stirring occasionally until slightly thickened (3-4 minutes), then remove from heat.
  6. Serve: Once salmon is out of the oven, brush with teriyaki syrup, then sprinkle with chopped green onion and sesame seeds as desired.

Notes

  • Salmon: This recipe will work for 2 to 3 lbs of salmon. You can easily scale this recipe up or down. For 1 lb of salmon, cut all of the marinade ingredients in half.
  • Marinating: Marinating the salmon helps to infuse it with flavor and keep it moist during cooking.
  • Baking Time: The baking time will vary depending on the thickness of your salmon fillets. Use a meat thermometer to ensure the salmon is cooked to an internal temperature of 145°F.
  • Serving: Serve this teriyaki salmon with rice, noodles, or your favorite vegetables.
