Ingredients
- 1 pint strawberries, rinsed and dried
- 8 oz white melting chocolate
- 1 oz dark melting chocolate (for face decoration)
- Parchment paper
Instructions
- Prepare Strawberries: Begin by rinsing your strawberries thoroughly. Place them on a paper towel or clean cloth to dry completely, which is essential for the chocolate to adhere properly.
- Line Baking Sheet: Line a baking sheet or pan with parchment paper. To keep the parchment flat, lightly spray the pan with cooking spray before laying the parchment down. Place the strawberries nearby along with a hot pad for handling the melting chocolate pot.
- Melt White Chocolate: In a small pot over LOW heat, melt the white candy coating slowly. Add a few cubes at a time and stir constantly with a rubber spatula to prevent burning. This process can take about 5 minutes; patience is key for a smooth, even melt.
- Dip Strawberries: Hold the pot of melted white chocolate at an angle. Grab each strawberry by the stem and dip both sides into the chocolate. When placing the strawberries down onto the parchment paper, drag and drop gently to create a ‘ghost tail’ effect. Repeat for all strawberries.
- Set the Coating: Allow the coated strawberries to set at room temperature until the chocolate hardens completely.
- Melt Dark Chocolate and Decorate: Melt the dark chocolate and transfer it into a Ziploc bag with a small cut in one corner. Pipe small eyes and mouths onto each white chocolate ghost strawberry to create spooky faces.
- Chill to Set: Place the decorated strawberry ghosts in the refrigerator for faster setting of the chocolate details. Once set, they are ready to serve and enjoy.
Notes
- Ensure strawberries are thoroughly dried before dipping to avoid chocolate seizing.
- Use low heat and constant stirring when melting chocolate to prevent burning.
- For a sturdier parchment paper, spray the baking sheet lightly with cooking spray before placing the parchment.
- Decorate with care for fun and spooky ghost faces using melted dark chocolate.
- These treats are best served the same day for freshness.
