Description

Southern Strawberry Sweet Iced Tea is a refreshing and fruity twist on the classic sweet tea, featuring freshly brewed black tea, ripe strawberry puree, and sweetened with granulated sugar. Itโ€™s the perfect icy-cold beverage for hot days or gatherings, bursting with vibrant strawberry flavor and the comforting taste of southern hospitality.

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Tea

  • 4โ€“5 family-size tea bags (such as Luzianne)
  • 6 cups water, divided

For the Strawberry Syrup

  • 4 cups ripe strawberries (makes about 1 cup of juice)
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

For Serving

  • Frozen or fresh strawberries (optional garnish)
  • Fresh mint (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Brew the Tea: In a small pot, bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Remove from heat and add the tea bags. Allow them to steep for 10 minutes, then discard the tea bags.
  2. Prepare the Strawberries: While the tea is steeping, dice up the strawberries. Place them in a food processor and puree until smooth.
  3. Strain the Strawberry Puree: Pour the pureed strawberries through a mesh strainer set over a bowl to separate the juice from the pulp. Reserve the juice and discard the pulp.
  4. Combine Tea, Strawberry Juice, and Sugar: In a large pitcher, add the brewed tea, reserved strawberry juice, and granulated sugar. Stir thoroughly until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  5. Add Cold Water and Chill: Pour in the remaining 4 cups of cold water. Stir to combine and refrigerate the tea until it is thoroughly chilled.
  6. Serve: Pour the iced tea over ice. Garnish each glass with frozen or fresh strawberries and fresh mint if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • For a less sweet tea, reduce the amount of sugar to your preference.
  • Use frozen strawberries as ice cubes for extra flavor and a beautiful presentation.
  • Freshly brewed tea works best, but chilled leftover tea can be used in a pinch.
  • Adjust the level of strawberry juice for a stronger or lighter fruit flavor.
  • Add fresh lemon slices for an extra citrusy note.
