Description

This Slow Cooker Crockpot Boneless Turkey Breast recipe delivers a tender, flavorful turkey breast cooked low and slow for maximum juiciness and ease. With simple seasoning and a broth base, the turkey stays moist and can easily be finished with a quick air fry or broil for crispy skin. Perfect for a hassle-free holiday or weeknight meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Turkey and Seasonings

  • 3 pound boneless turkey breast (bone-in can be used)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika (regular paprika also works)
  • 2 teaspoons poultry seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Other Ingredients

  • 1 cup sliced onions
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Season the Turkey: Pat the turkey breast dry thoroughly. Sprinkle the garlic powder, smoked paprika, poultry seasoning, salt, and pepper evenly all over both sides of the turkey breast. Rub the spices well into the meat ensuring it is completely covered. Add more seasoning if needed to fully coat the breast.
  2. Prepare the Slow Cooker: Pour 1 cup of chicken broth into the bottom of the slow cooker. Add the sliced onions to the broth, spreading them evenly. Place the seasoned turkey breast on top of the onion and broth layer. Dot the 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter on top of the turkey breast to add richness.
  3. Cook Low and Slow: Cover the slow cooker and cook on the Low setting for 3 to 4 hours. Use a meat thermometer to check the turkey’s internal temperature, making sure it reaches at least 165°F to ensure safe consumption and juicy results.
  4. Remove and Crisp (Optional): Carefully take the turkey breast out of the slow cooker as it will be very tender and may fall apart. For crispy skin, place the turkey in an air fryer at 400°F for 3-4 minutes or broil in the oven for about 3-5 minutes until the skin crisps to your liking.
  5. Rest Before Slicing: Allow the turkey breast to rest uncovered for 20 minutes. Resting helps the juices redistribute within the meat, resulting in moist, flavorful slices.

Notes

  • Thaw the turkey breast completely before cooking for even cooking.
  • Feel free to customize the seasoning with your favorite herbs and rubs to suit your taste preferences.
  • If your turkey breast came with netting, it holds the bird together during cooking. Removing it prior to cooking might cause the breast to fall apart, especially with brands like Butterball. If it falls apart, secure with toothpicks or choose to keep the netting intact for ease.
