Description

Festive and adorable Santa Hat Cupcakes perfect for holiday celebrations. These cupcakes are decorated with vibrant red frosting shaped into a Santa hat, accented with mini marshmallows for a playful and sweet touch. Easy to make and visually delightful, they add a cheerful spirit to any party or gathering.

Ingredients

Scale

Cupcakes

  • 12 cupcakes, any flavor (white or chocolate recommended for best appearance)

Decoration

  • Red frosting (enough to frost 12 cupcakes)
  • Mini marshmallows, cut in half (approximately 24 halves for decoration)

Tools

  • Wilton decorating tip #32 or a regular round piping tip (optional)
  • Disposable frosting bag

Instructions

  1. Prepare Marshmallows: Pre-cut the mini marshmallows in half to save time during decorating. You’ll need enough halves to line the frosting circle on all 12 cupcakes.
  2. Fill the Piping Bag: Attach your decorating tip to a disposable frosting bag and fill it with the red frosting, ensuring it’s ready for piping.
  3. Create Frosting Base: Pipe a circular base of red frosting onto each cupcake, forming the bottom ring of the Santa hat.
  4. Attach Marshmallows: Place the halved mini marshmallows around the frosting ring to create the fur trim of the hat.
  5. Pipe the Santa Hat: Fill in the circle with frosting and pipe swirling layers upward in a round, circular motion to mimic the shape of a Santa hat.
  6. Top the Hat: Finish each hat with a single halved mini marshmallow as the pom-pom on top of the hat.
  7. Chill: Place the decorated cupcakes in the fridge for a few minutes to let the frosting firm up before serving.

Notes

  • Using white or chocolate cupcakes provides a great color contrast with the red frosting and white marshmallows.
  • If you don’t have a Wilton #32 tip, any round piping tip or even a zip-top bag with a small corner cut will work.
  • Cutting the marshmallows ahead of time makes the decorating process faster and smoother.
  • Keep cupcakes chilled if preparing ahead to help maintain the frosting shape.
