Description

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 lbs smoked turkey wings
  • 1 medium white onion, finely chopped
  • 6 cloves of garlic, finely minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon Creole Cajun Seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 5 cups low sodium chicken broth/stock, plus more as needed
  • 2 lbs fresh green beans, ends trimmed & cut/snapped in half
  • 23 medium red potatoes, rinsed & cut into quarters
  • Kosher salt & freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Hot sauce, for serving (optional)

 


Instructions

  1. Sear Smoked Turkey:
    • Heat oil in a Dutch oven.
    • Sear smoked turkey wings for 5 minutes, turning occasionally.
  2. Sauté Aromatics:
    • Add onion, cook until softened.
    • Add garlic, cook until fragrant.
    • Toss in Creole Cajun seasoning and red pepper flakes (if using).
  3. Add Broth and Simmer:
    • Pour in chicken broth, ensure meat is submerged.
    • Simmer on medium-low for 1 1/2 hours, turning meat occasionally.
  4. Shred Turkey:
    • Remove turkey, let cool, and shred the meat.
    • Discard skin and bones.
    • Return meat to the pot.
  5. Add Green Beans and Potatoes:
    • Add green beans and potatoes.
    • Add more broth if needed.
    • Stir to combine.
  6. Simmer Vegetables:
    • Cover and simmer on medium-low for 1 hour, until vegetables are tender.
  7. Season and Serve:
    • Uncover, season with salt and pepper.
    • Serve with hot sauce (optional).
