Description

This Pizza Toast is a quick and easy snack or meal thatโ€™s perfect for any occasion. Itโ€™s made with thick Texas toast, pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, and your favorite toppings, all baked to crispy perfection.


Ingredients

  • 6 slices thick Texas toast square sandwich bread
  • 6 tablespoons prepared pizza sauce (1 tablespoon sauce per slice of bread)
  • 2 cups freshly shredded mozzarella cheese (approximately 1/3 cup cheese per slice of bread)
  • 18 slices of pepperoni (3 per slice of bread)
  • 1/3 cup sliced button mushrooms
  • 1/3 cup diced green bell pepper
  • 1/3 cup diced red onion
  • 4 fresh basil leaves, julienned

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Toast Bread: Preheat oven to 425ยฐF. Spray a baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray and place the bread slices on it in a single layer. Bake for about 3 to 4 minutes until just starting to toast.
  2. Add Toppings: Remove toasted bread from oven, turn them over, and spread each slice with 1 tablespoon pizza sauce. Sprinkle each with 3 tablespoons shredded mozzarella cheese and top with 3 pepperoni slices, a few slices of mushroom, and some diced green bell pepper and red onion. Finish with 2 tablespoons shredded mozzarella cheese on top.
  3. Bake: Return bread to oven for 5 to 8 minutes or until cheese is melted with some brown spots.
  4. Serve: Remove from oven, sprinkle with some basil and enjoy!

Notes

  • Toast the Bread: Always toast the bread first to prevent it from becoming soggy.
  • Donโ€™t Overdo the Sauce: Try to stick to no more than 2 tablespoons of sauce per slice of bread.
  • Avoid Overloading Toppings: Be careful not to add too many ingredients, as this can make the toast soggy.
