Description

Mummy Dogs are a fun and festive twist on classic hot dogs wrapped in crescent roll dough to resemble mummies. Perfect for Halloween parties or a playful snack, these baked treats are easy to assemble and delight kids and adults alike with their cute bandage look and optional candy eyes or ketchup/mustard details.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 6 Hot dogs
  • 1 package Crescent Roll Dough
  • Candy eyes (optional)
  • Ketchup or mustard, for decorating eyes

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for baking the mummy dogs.
  2. Prepare the dough: Open the crescent roll dough package, unroll the dough, and press the perforations together to seal the dough into one sheet.
  3. Cut dough strips: Slice the sealed dough into 1/4-inch wide strips for wrapping around the hot dogs.
  4. Wrap the hot dogs: Take each hot dog and stretch the dough strips slightly as you wrap them around it, criss-crossing and overlapping to create a mummy bandage effect. Leave small gaps so parts of the hot dog peek through, enhancing the mummy look.
  5. Bake the mummy dogs: Place the dough-wrapped hot dogs on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, until the dough is golden brown and the hot dogs are heated through.
  6. Add eyes to the mummies: After baking, use a small dot of ketchup or mustard on the backs of candy eyes and stick two eyes on each mummy dog. If candy eyes are not available, simply place small dots of ketchup or mustard where the eyes would go.

Notes

  • If candy eyes are unavailable, use a small dot of ketchup or mustard to create eyes on the mummy dogs.
  • Stretching the dough slightly before wrapping helps create a more realistic mummy wrap appearance.
  • Serve warm for the best taste and texture.
  • This recipe is easily doubled or tripled for larger parties or gatherings.
