Description

These Mexican Totchos are a fun and flavorful twist on traditional nachos. Crispy tater tots are topped with seasoned ground beef and melted cheese for a delicious and satisfying snack or appetizer.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2-pound bag tater tots, cooked
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded Colby Jack cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat Broiler and Brown Beef: Set your oven to broil on high. Combine the ground beef, garlic powder, cumin, salt, and red pepper flakes in a large pan over medium-high heat. Use a spatula to break up the ground beef as it cooks. Cook for about 7 to 10 minutes until it is cooked through and no longer pink. Drain the excess grease from the pan.
  2. Assemble and Broil: Spread your tater tots on a 9×13-inch baking sheet and top them with the ground beef and cheese. Broil your Totchos for 5 minutes or until the cheese is completely melted.
  3. Serve: Serve immediately with your favorite toppings, and enjoy!

Notes

  • Tater Tots: You can cook the tater tots according to the package directions, or use leftover tater tots.
  • Seasoning: In addition to garlic powder and cumin, you can also season your ground beef with taco seasoning.
  • Cheese: You can use any type of cheese you like, such as cheddar, Monterey Jack, or a Mexican blend.
  • Toppings: Some popular toppings for Mexican Totchos include sour cream, guacamole, salsa, jalapeños, and green onions.
  • Storage: Leftover Totchos can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
