- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 2 (15-ounce) cans tomato sauce

- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 3/4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
- 12 oven-ready (no-boil) lasagna noodles
- Fresh chopped parsley, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat and Brown Meat: Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch casserole dish. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and onion; cook until browned and crumbled. Stir in garlic and cook until fragrant. Drain excess grease.
- Make Sauce: Reduce heat to medium. Add brown sugar, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and tomato paste to the skillet. Stir to combine. Pour in tomato sauce and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Prepare Cheese Mixture: In a bowl, combine eggs, ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, and ¾ cup mozzarella cheese.
- Assemble Lasagna: Spread 1 cup meat sauce in the prepared baking dish. Layer 4 noodles, ricotta mixture, and another 4 noodles. Spread half of the remaining meat sauce, then add the last 4 noodles. Top with remaining meat sauce and mozzarella cheese.
- Bake: Cover tightly with greased foil and bake for 55 minutes. Let stand for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving. Garnish with fresh parsley.
Notes
- Layering Noodles: Overlap noodles slightly if needed. Arrange horizontally for best results.
- Substitutions: Replace ricotta with cottage cheese, or use ground turkey instead of beef.
- Sauce: Use jarred meat sauce if preferred.
- Storage: Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
