Description

This Hurry Up Skillet Cabbage is a quick and easy side dish that’s ready in just 20 minutes! Tender cabbage and onions are cooked with green chiles and a creamy sauce, making it a flavorful and satisfying accompaniment to any meal.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 4 cups shredded cabbage
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 (4 oz) can sliced green chiles, drained
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 6 oz cream cheese, softened

Instructions

  1. Sauté Vegetables: Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add cabbage, onion, green chiles, garlic powder, water, salt, and pepper. Cook for 8-10 minutes, or until cabbage is wilted and onion is softened.
  2. Stir in Cream Cheese: Remove from heat and stir in cream cheese until melted and smooth.
  3. Serve: Serve immediately while hot.

Notes

  • You can use any type of cabbage you like, but green cabbage or Napa cabbage are good choices.
  • If you don’t have fresh green chiles, you can use canned green chilies.
  • For a spicier dish, add a pinch of red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper.
