Description

These Honey Soy Baked Chicken Drumsticks are a flavorful and easy-to-make dish featuring tender chicken marinated in a sweet and savory honey-soy-ginger mixture, then baked to perfection. Garnished with toasted sesame seeds and fresh scallions, this recipe pairs beautifully with Pineapple Coconut Rice for a delightful meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Marinade

  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 6 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon minced ginger
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Chicken

  • 10 chicken drumsticks

Garnish

  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds
  • 2 scallions, diced

Serving Suggestion

  • Pineapple Coconut Rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the marinade: In a small bowl, combine honey, low-sodium soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, minced ginger, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix well until fully blended.
  2. Marinate the chicken: Season the chicken drumsticks with salt and pepper to taste. Place the drumsticks into a large Ziploc bag and pour the marinade over them. Seal the bag after removing as much air as possible. Refrigerate and let marinate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to penetrate the meat. Keep the marinade for basting later.
  3. Preheat the oven: When ready to cook, preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  4. Arrange and bake the chicken: Lay the marinated chicken drumsticks evenly on the prepared baking sheet. Place in the oven and bake for approximately 35 minutes. Every 10 minutes, baste the drumsticks with the reserved marinade to keep them moist and flavorful. Bake until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) when checked with a meat thermometer.
  5. Garnish and serve: Once baked, remove the chicken from the oven and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds and diced scallions. Serve hot alongside Pineapple Coconut Rice for a complete and delicious meal.
