For the Hamburger Sauce:

  • 1 yellow onion, chopped (or mixed chopped green onion greens and yellow onion)
  • 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • Pinch chili pepper flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon celery seed
  • 1 (28-ounce) can diced tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Start cooking the pasta: Boil water and cook macaroni according to package directions.
  2. Brown the beef and onions: Brown ground beef in olive oil, add onions, cook until soft.
  3. Add the seasonings and tomatoes: Season with celery seed, red pepper, and salt. Add tomatoes and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer.
  4. Drain the pasta: Reserve some pasta water.
  5. Add the cooked pasta: Mix in drained macaroni and parsley. Cook briefly, adding pasta water if needed.
