Ingredients
Scale
Pizza Dough
- ⅓ recipe of Classic Pizza Dough
Garlic Butter Topping
- 6 tablespoons butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- ¼ teaspoon kosher salt, heaping
Toppings and Dipping
- ⅓ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- ½ cup marinara sauce (for serving)
Instructions
- Prepare Dough: If using pizza dough stored in the refrigerator, place the dough bag on the kitchen counter for one hour to come to room temperature before starting. This ensures easier handling and better rising.
- Shape Bread Bites: On a piece of parchment paper, divide the dough into four equal pieces. Roll each piece into a rope about 10 inches long. Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, cut each rope into 10 one-inch pieces. Place the dough pieces evenly spaced on a rimmed baking sheet coated with cooking spray, then cover with a tea towel and allow to rise for 30 minutes.
- Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 400°F (204°C) and prepare a rimmed baking sheet by spraying it generously with cooking spray if not already done.
- Make Garlic Butter: Melt butter in a microwave-safe bowl. Stir in minced garlic, Italian seasoning, and kosher salt until well combined.
- Brush and Bake: Brush the tops of the risen dough bites with half of the garlic butter mixture. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes until the bites turn very lightly golden. Avoid overbaking to keep them soft.
- Finish Topping: Remove the bread bites from the oven. Brush half of the bites with half of the remaining garlic butter and sprinkle with half of the grated Parmesan cheese while the butter is still wet for better adhesion. Repeat with the remaining bites, butter, and cheese.
- Serve: Serve warm with your favorite marinara sauce or olive oil dipping sauce for a delicious appetizer or snack.
Notes
- Allowing the dough to come to room temperature before shaping helps with easier handling and better rise.
- Do not overbake the bread bites to maintain softness; they should be just lightly golden.
- Brushing the bites with butter and sprinkling cheese in two stages helps the cheese stick better and enhances flavor.
- These bites pair well with marinara sauce or olive oil infused with herbs for dipping.
- Classic pizza dough can be homemade or store-bought, but fresh dough yields the best texture.
