Ingredients
Scale
Bread and Cheese
- 1 crusty loaf (preferably sourdough or Vienna)
- 1 cup shredded Mozzarella cheese (or other melting cheese)
Butter Mixture
- 100 g / 1 stick (8 tbsp) unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large garlic cloves, minced
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) to ensure it reaches the correct temperature for baking the bread evenly.
- Prepare Garlic Butter: In a heatproof bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, and salt. Melt the mixture in the microwave until fully liquid, then stir in the finely chopped fresh parsley.
- Slice the Bread: Cut the crusty loaf diagonally into approximately 2 cm (1 inch) diamond shapes, being careful not to slice all the way through the bread to keep it intact for the pull-apart effect.
- Stuff Bread: Pry open each cut section using your fingers or a knife. Drizzle about a teaspoon of the garlic butter inside each crack and stuff a pinch of shredded mozzarella cheese into the opening. It is fine if some butter drizzles over the crust, adding extra flavor and crispness.
- Brush Bread Surface: Using the remaining garlic butter, brush the top surface of the bread loaf evenly to enhance flavor and browning during baking.
- Bake Covered: Wrap the prepared bread loaf with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes until the cheese begins to melt inside.
- Finish Baking Uncovered: Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 5 to 10 minutes to allow the bread to become golden brown and crusty on the outside.
- Serve: Serve the cheese and garlic crack bread immediately while warm and gooey for the best taste and texture experience.
