Description

These soft and flavorful garlic breadsticks are made with a simple Greek yogurt dough and topped with melted butter, fresh garlic, shredded cheese, and Italian seasoning. Perfect as a side dish or appetizer, this recipe is quick and easy to make. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces for a satisfying treat.

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Dough

  • 1 batch Greek yogurt dough (see notes for alternatives)

For the Topping

  • 1/4 cup butter (or olive oil)
  • 3 tablespoons garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 180ยฐC (350ยฐF). Line a large baking tray with parchment paper and set it aside.
  2. Prepare the Dough:
Combine the Greek yogurt with flour to form a smooth dough. Shape the dough into a rough rectangular shape. Transfer the dough onto the prepared baking tray.
  3. Brush the Dough:
Using a pastry brush, lightly coat the top of the dough with melted butter or olive oil, covering the entire surface.
  4. Prepare the Garlic Mixture:
In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter (or olive oil) with minced garlic. Brush this mixture generously over the top of the dough, ensuring to leave a half-inch border around the edges.
  5. Add Toppings:
Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly over the top of the dough, followed by Italian seasoning for added flavor.
  6. Bake the Breadsticks:
Bake in the preheated oven for 15-17 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the cheese has fully melted.
  7. Slice and Serve:
Remove from the oven and sprinkle with more Italian seasoning if desired. Use a pizza cutter to slice the baked dough into breadsticks. Serve warm with your favorite sauce.

Notes

  • Alternative dough:ย You can substitute the Greek yogurt dough with 1 pound of any pizza dough of your choice.
  • Storage Tips:
  • Refrigeration:ย Store leftover breadsticks in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 4-5 days.
  • Freezing:ย Wrap cooled breadsticks in foil or plastic wrap and place in a freezer-safe container. Freeze for up to 2 months.
  • Reheating:ย Reheat in a preheated oven at 350ยฐF for 8-10 minutes or in an air fryer at 375ยฐF for 5-6 minutes. Microwaving is also an option but wonโ€™t yield crispy results.
  • Make it vegan:ย Use coconut Greek yogurt for the dough and plant-based cheese for the topping. You can also omit the cheese entirely if desired.
  • Serving suggestions:ย Pair these breadsticks with marinara sauce, pomodoro sauce, sugo, or even hot honey sauce for a delicious accompaniment.
