Description

Create spooky and fun Frankenstein Marshmallow Pops perfect for Halloween or themed parties. These marshmallow treats are dipped in green candy melts, decorated with chocolate hair, candy eyes, and pretzel bolts to resemble the iconic monster. Easy to make and delightfully festive!

Ingredients

For the Pops

  • Green candy melts (amount as needed for dipping)
  • Marshmallows (6 large)
  • Small pretzel rods (broken into small pieces for bolts)
  • Semisweet chocolate chips (for hair and decoration, about 1/2 cup)
  • Candy eyeballs (12 pieces)
  • Toothpicks (for decorating)
  • Lollipop sticks or colorful straws (6)

For Decorating

  • Edible red marker
  • Edible black marker

Instructions

  1. Melt Candy Melts: Melt the green candy melts in a microwave or double boiler according to package directions until fully smooth and melted, ready for dipping.
  2. Dip Marshmallows: Insert lollipop sticks into each marshmallow. Dip the marshmallows into the melted green candy, turning to coat completely. Place the dipped marshmallows upright in a glass filled with uncooked rice or oatmeal and refrigerate for about 5 minutes until the coating slightly hardens.
  3. Prepare Chocolate Hair: Melt the semisweet chocolate chips until smooth using a microwave or double boiler. Dip the tops of each coated marshmallow into the melted chocolate, then use a toothpick to drag the chocolate downwards forming spiky hair shapes. Refrigerate again for about 5 minutes to harden the chocolate.
  4. Add Pretzel Bolts: Break the pretzel rods into small pieces about 1/8 inch in size. Carefully push one piece into each side of the marshmallow about one-third from the bottom to create Frankenstein’s neck bolts.
  5. Attach Eyes: Using a toothpick, dab two small dots of melted chocolate onto each marshmallow where eyes should be and press candy eyeballs onto the dots so they stick firmly.
  6. Draw Features: Use the black edible marker to draw a mouth on each marshmallow pop. Then use the red edible marker to add a laceration scar on Frankenstein’s forehead for extra spooky detail.
  7. Serve or Store: Enjoy the marshmallow pops immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

Notes

  • Ensure candy melts are completely melted and smooth before dipping the marshmallows for even coating.
  • Use uncooked rice or oatmeal to hold the pops upright while drying.
  • The edible markers can be found at specialty baking or craft stores and add detailed decoration safely.
  • Store the finished pops in airtight containers to maintain freshness and texture.
  • Perfect for Halloween parties or fun snacks on a stick.
