- 1.5 lbs lean ground beef
- 1 yellow onion, diced
- 1 tablespoon chopped garlic
- 10.5 oz can condensed cheddar cheese soup
- 10.5 oz can condensed cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
Topping:
- 1 box Cheddar Bay Biscuit mix
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 cups milk
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- Fresh chopped parsley
Instructions
- Preheat and Brown Beef: Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C). In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown ground beef with diced onions. Drain excess grease.
- Make Filling: Stir in garlic, cheddar cheese soup, cream of mushroom soup, milk, salt, and pepper. Cook until well combined. Remove from heat and stir in 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese.
- Assemble in Baking Dish: Spray a 9×13 inch baking dish with cooking spray. Pour the ground beef mixture into the dish and spread evenly. Sprinkle with remaining 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese.
- Make Biscuit Topping: In a bowl, combine biscuit mix (without the seasoning packet), shredded cheddar cheese, and milk. Stir until well combined.
- Top and Bake: Pour biscuit batter over the ground beef mixture. Bake for 50-55 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown.
- Make Butter Topping: While the cobbler bakes, melt butter and combine with the seasoning packet from the biscuit mix.
- Finish and Serve: Remove the cobbler from the oven and brush the top with the butter mixture. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley.
Notes
- You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for the ground beef.
- If you don’t have Cheddar Bay Biscuit mix, you can use another biscuit mix or make your own biscuits from scratch.
- For a spicier cobbler, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes to the ground beef mixture.
