This Cheddar Baked Chicken is a crispy and cheesy delight that’s perfect for a quick and easy weeknight meal! Tender chicken tenders are coated in a flavorful breadcrumb mixture with Rice Krispies for extra crunch, then baked to golden perfection.

- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons whole milk
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup Rice Krispies cereal
- 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
- 2 pounds chicken tenders (about 12 strips)
- 4 tablespoons butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat and Prep: Preheat oven to 350ยฐF (177ยฐC). Coat a 10×15 inch baking dish with nonstick spray.
- Set Up Breading Station: Prepare three shallow bowls: one with flour, salt, pepper, and garlic powder; one with beaten egg and milk; and one with cheese, cereal, breadcrumbs, and Italian seasoning.
- Bread Chicken: Dredge chicken tenders in the flour mixture, then dip in the egg mixture, and finally press into the breadcrumb mixture to coat.
- Bake: Arrange coated chicken in the prepared baking dish and drizzle with melted butter. Bake for 22-25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature of 165ยฐF/74ยฐC).
- Serve: Serve hot with a roasted vegetable or a side salad.
Notes
- Ensure chicken pieces are similar in size for even cooking. If using chicken breasts, cut them into strips roughly the same size as chicken tenders.
- You can substitute the chicken tenders with boneless, skinless chicken thighs, but adjust the cooking time accordingly.
- If you don’t have Rice Krispies cereal, you can use another type of cereal or omit it altogether.
- For a richer flavor, you can use a combination of cheddar cheese and Parmesan cheese.
