Ingredients
Scale
Apples
- 4 apples
Butter Mixture
- 4 tbsp. melted butter
- 1 tbsp. packed brown sugar
- 1 tbsp. granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
Additional Ingredients
- Cooking spray
- 8 chewy caramel squares
- Breyers Natural Vanilla ice cream, for serving
- Caramel, for drizzling
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Apples: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Using a sharp knife, carefully slice each apple into thin segments almost down to the bottom but not all the way through, creating a blooming flower pattern. Remove the core without cutting completely through the apple.
- Mix Butter and Sugars: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and ground cinnamon. Stir until well blended to form a sweet, spiced butter mixture.
- Coat Apples: Spray a baking dish lightly with cooking spray. Place the prepared apples in the dish. Gently spread the butter mixture evenly over each apple, making sure to get some between the slices to infuse flavor.
- Insert Caramel Squares: Push two chewy caramel squares carefully into the center of each apple, allowing the caramel to melt and ooze during baking.
- Bake the Apples: Bake the apples in the preheated oven for about 1 hour, or until they are tender and caramel is melted. This slow baking allows the flavors to meld perfectly.
- Serve: Remove the apples from the oven and let them cool slightly. Serve each bloomin’ apple with a scoop of Breyers Natural Vanilla ice cream and drizzle with extra caramel sauce for a decadent finish.
Notes
- Get your fall fix with these caramel-soaked bloomin’ apples that are so much easier to make than classic apple pie.
- Choose firm apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp for best results.
- Watch the baking time as it may vary slightly depending on your oven and apple size.
- For a dairy-free option, substitute butter and ice cream accordingly.
