Description

The Absolut Elyx Black Magic Martini is a visually stunning and flavorful cocktail combining fresh blackberry puree, aromatic thyme simple syrup, and premium Absolut Elyx vodka. This smoky martini features a unique twist with crushed dry ice for an impressive theatrical effect, making it a perfect choice for special occasions or sophisticated gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

Blackberry Puree

  • 6 oz blackberries
  • 1 1/2 oz brandy
  • 1/2 oz lemon juice
  • 1/4 tsp black food coloring

Thyme Simple Syrup

  • 5 sprigs fresh thyme
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water

Cocktail

  • 4 oz Absolut Elyx vodka
  • 3 oz blackberry puree
  • 1 oz thyme simple syrup
  • Ice (for shaking)
  • Crushed dry ice (for smoky effect)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Thyme Simple Syrup: In a small saucepan, combine the fresh thyme sprigs, sugar, and water over medium-high heat. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil and stir continuously until the sugar completely dissolves. Remove the saucepan from the heat and cover it. Let the syrup steep and infuse with thyme flavor for 30 minutes. After steeping, strain out the thyme sprigs and allow the syrup to cool to room temperature before using.
  2. Make the Blackberry Puree: In a blender or food processor, combine the blackberries, brandy, lemon juice, and black food coloring. Blend the mixture until it reaches a smooth consistency. Transfer the blackberry puree to the refrigerator and chill while you prepare the cocktail.
  3. Shake the Cocktail: Fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes. Pour in the Absolut Elyx vodka, chilled blackberry puree, and thyme simple syrup. Secure the lid tightly and shake vigorously to chill and combine all ingredients thoroughly.
  4. Serve the Martini: Strain the mixed cocktail into chilled martini glasses to ensure a smooth, pulp-free drink. Be sure to strain well to maintain the elegant texture of the martini.
  5. Add the Smoky Effect: Carefully add a small spoonful of crushed dry ice to each glass to create a dramatic, smoky presentation. Allow the dry ice to sublimate and cool the cocktail before consumption. Remove any remaining dry ice chunks from the bottom of the glass before drinking to ensure safety.

Notes

  • Handle dry ice with care and use tongs or gloves to avoid frostbite.
  • Never ingest dry ice directly; wait until it has fully sublimated before drinking.
  • You can prepare the thyme simple syrup and blackberry puree in advance to save time.
  • If black food coloring is unavailable, you can omit it; the drink will have a more natural color.
  • This cocktail is best served immediately after preparation to enjoy the fresh flavors and the dry ice effect.
