Description

Big Mac Tacos are a delicious fusion that combines smashed burger patties with classic taco style, featuring juicy ground beef pressed onto tortillas, melty cheddar cheese, fresh lettuce, pickles, and a creamy homemade special sauce. Ready in just 20 minutes, these tacos are perfect for quick weeknight dinners or fun gatherings.

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Taco Filling

  • 8 ounces ground beef, portioned into 4 balls
  • 8 flour tortillas
  • 4โ€“8 cheddar cheese slices
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 16 pickles

For the Sauce

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon pickle relish
  • 1/2 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • Black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Beef Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, onion powder, and garlic powder. Mix thoroughly until spices are evenly distributed throughout the beef.
  2. Portion the Meat: Divide the burger mixture into 4 equally sized balls for convenience and even cooking.
  3. Spread Meat on Tortillas: Spread each ground beef ball evenly over a tortilla, leaving some tortilla exposed around the edges. Season with salt or taco seasoning if desired.
  4. Make Special Sauce: In a medium bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, ketchup, pickle relish, apple cider vinegar, and black pepper until smooth. Set aside.
  5. Prepare the Workstation: Lay out tortillas, cheese, sauce, lettuce, and toppings for easy assembly.
  6. Cook the Meat on Skillet or Griddle: Preheat a large griddle or skillet over high heat. Place the meat-covered side of the tortilla down and firmly smash the beef with a spatula or burger press until thin and evenly spread. Cook for 2โ€“3 minutes until the beef is browned and crisp.
  7. Flip and Add Cheese: Using a spatula or bench scraper, carefully flip the tortilla. Reduce heat to medium and immediately top each with cheddar cheese so it melts over the beef.
  8. Assemble the Tacos: Top each cheesy beef taco with shredded lettuce and pickles. Add your desired amount of prepared sauce, and any other favorite toppings if you like.
  9. Serve: Serve your Big Mac Tacos hot, arranged on a serving plate for immediate enjoyment.

Notes

  • Customize with your favorite toppings such as diced tomatoes, onions, or jalapeรฑos.
  • For extra flavor, try adding a sprinkle of taco seasoning to the ground beef before cooking.
  • Use whole wheat or gluten-free tortillas as desired.
  • If you want extra crunch, toast the tortillas before adding the meat.
  • The special sauce can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to a week.
