			For the Apple Dumplings
- 2 Granny Smith apples
 - 2 (8-oz.) cans crescent rolls

For the Sauce
- 1 cup butter, plus more for greasing
 - 1 1/2 cups sugar
 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
 - 1 (12-oz.) can Mountain Dew soda
 - 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare the Baking Dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F. Generously butter a 13-by-9-inch baking dish to prevent sticking and add richness to the dumplings as they bake.
 - Prepare the Apples: Peel and core the Granny Smith apples. Cut each apple in half vertically, then cut each half into 4 wedges to create 16 apple pieces for wrapping.
 - Wrap the Apples in Crescent Dough: On a lightly floured surface, unroll the crescent roll sheets and separate them into 16 individual triangles. Quickly place one apple wedge on the wide base of each dough triangle and roll it toward the pointed end, ensuring the dough overlaps to fully encase the apple wedge. Place each wrapped apple seam-side down in the prepared baking dish.
 - Make the Butter-Sugar Sauce: In a small saucepan, melt 1 cup of butter over low heat. Add the sugar and stir just enough to combine gently; aim for a lumpy, grainy texture without dissolving the sugar completely. Stir in the vanilla extract carefully without mixing too much.
 - Add Sauce and Mountain Dew: Pour the butter and sugar mixture evenly over the apple dumplings in the baking dish. Then, carefully pour the Mountain Dew soda around the edges of the pan to add carbonation and sweetness. Sprinkle cinnamon evenly over the top for warmth and spice.
 - Bake the Dumplings: Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 45 minutes until the dumplings are golden brown, the dough is crisp, and the sauce is bubbly and caramelized.
 - Serve: Let the apple dumplings cool slightly before serving. Spoon some of the delicious pan sauce over each dumpling and serve with a scoop of ice cream for an irresistible dessert experience.

Notes
- Use Granny Smith apples for a tart contrast that balances the sweet sauce.
 - Serving with vanilla ice cream enhances the dessert’s flavor and texture.
 - Work quickly when wrapping the apples to keep the dough cold and prevent it from sticking.
 - The Mountain Dew adds a unique citrusy sweetness and carbonation that helps tenderize the apples and create a light sauce.
 - For a gluten-free option, substitute crescent rolls with gluten-free pastry dough.
